An Egyptian 3zouma Inspired by the Tomato
August 29, 2026 | Summit, NJ
If you've never been invited to an Egyptian 3zouma, this is your chance.
Inspired by the family gatherings of my childhood in Cairo and the tomato-rich dishes that raised me, this special evening celebrates Egyptian hospitality at the height of New Jersey tomato season.
Guests will begin the evening with cocktails, conversation, and garden wandering before gathering beneath the trees for a feast inspired by Egyptian summer cooking. Along the way, you may find fresh bread baking, a game of tawla in progress, or a classic Egyptian film flickering in the background.
Joining us for the evening will be Anny Gaul, James Beard Award-winning author of Nile Nightshade: A Culinary History of the Tomato in Egypt, the book that inspired this gathering.
Each guest will receive a signed copy of Nile Nightshade.
This is not a supper club.
It's a 3zouma.
